Our Work
Rebecca: I love to paint. I love the physical process of painting; sort of like dancing. I love making large strokes of color and watching how a simple stroke of color can change the look of an image, entirely. I love the way very large paintings become an environment that people interact with. They surround you, and you become part of the artworks simply by being there. I love creating murals with that interaction in mind, whether people drive past them, assist in their creation, sit in front of them, take photos with them, walk around them, walk or bike past them... these interactions fuel my work and inspire its final form.
Isaac: Whether it's a piece of paper, canvas, or blank wall, my creativity utilizes historic and cultural materials in modern contexts to tell stories of people and places often hidden from view. I find that art is an outlet to explore stories that I have been researching as a historian. This inevitably brings new insight and broadens the applications of their social messages. Recently my projects have included collaborations with Rebecca Recco, fellow artist and my wife. This has expanded not only the physical size of my art but also the incorporation of art and music into my everyday life and thus expanding my enjoyment of life overall. I make art for so many reasons, but it has become a significant force aligning my creative, romantic, personal, home and work lives.

Our Latest Project: Bret Harte Middle School
We created this mural for Bret Harte Middle School's "Alternative Learning Days," and collaborated with students to design and execute the mural in the lower courtyard. Since this space is a hub for student activity during lunchtime and throughout the school day, we wanted something that expressed both the school mascot and the school community vibe. We knew we wanted something colorful that would really pop. We also wanted a style that was more akin to street art than traditional school mascot designs. We collaborated with a focus group of 6th grade art students, studied the street art in and around the school community, and set to work creating our own mural to communicate our vibe to visitors to the school. We had a week to design and create this mural with students, and we are really pleased with the results!
